Brad's Woodwork

About Brad!

Brad was a nephrologist for decades. He was never a surgeon, so the power saws are a recent development. All ten fingers are still accounted for, and he’d like you to know that.

Retirement lasted about a week. Then came the workshop, the tools, and the slow realization that a garage can always hold one more clamp. These days he turns rough lumber into cutting boards, boxes, and furniture. Some pieces take an afternoon. The big ones take months and most of his vocabulary.

Everything is made by hand, one piece at a time. He brings the same care he gave his patients, with fewer forms to fill out and no one asking about their insurance.

Off the clock, he’s married to a woman who has heard every one of his jokes, most of them twice, and has stayed for more than 50 years anyway. They have three kids and four grandkids, all of whom own a cutting board whether they asked for one or not. When he’s not in the shop, he’s skiing, hiking, or mountain biking, which keeps him in shape for hauling lumber.
